Our fruity flapjack recipe is delicious and provides a perfect snack food. Flapjack keeps well so can be left in a lunchbox for a lunch time treat, and oats are a great source of fibre, which slows the release of sugar into the body. Our recipe serves 6 so if you want extra, double up on the ingredients!
- 150g (5 oz) butter
- 75g (3oz) dark brown soft sugar
- A selection of Fruitypot in fruit juice (drained)
- 75g (3 oz) golden syrup or black treacle
- 225g (8 oz) porridge oats
- A pinch of salt
Pre-heat the oven to 180°C / Gas 5.
Next, melt the butter, sugar and syrup or treacle in a saucepan, but be careful not to let it boil. Then, stir in the porridge oats and the salt, and mix thoroughly.
Press the mixture into a 20cm round baking tin and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and mark into slices, but don’t cut all the way through.
And finally, lift from the tin and leave to cool before cutting.
